Does it have to be planned out?

Hello, fellow writers and readers!

Today I would like to discuss whether you should plan out your book or just let it go with the flow.

So me, myself and I am a person who has the near and far future planned out all in bullet points. But does this also help when writing a book? Because I really don’t know. In my imagination the concept of writing a book is a period of time in writers life dedicated to complete flow through their fantasie worlds. You just sit and write, and while you write, you come up with new ideas to put into words. And this routine leads to a finished book. However, I have deep admiration to those who can write several chapters in one sitting- how does your brain not blow up???

Anyways, I have a plan for the latest book I have been working on. I am really proud of the plan, but then it comes down to me being a perfectionist. Does it make sense? How am I going to write this so the plot twist is not foreseeable? Does the location of my fictional world should be real and based on actual place? Overthinking. Yes, well then I came to a conclusion- if I want to plan out my book, then I HAVE to stop overthinking every single detail and trust the damn process. Now this issue has built that writers block I mentioned in previous posts. As far as I know, the first step in order to overcome struggles is to acknowledge that you have been struggling, and the next step is to understand the reasoning behind it.

From the other perspective- leave the process to the flow- the writing comes out more organic and you can let your mind to get lost in the infinity of imagination. However, there are boundaries too- you cannot make a complete nonsense out of your work. The idea still should be understandable and clear (to yourself, not the readers at the beginning). As I am still watching some pretty thick tv shows, it has come to my attention that writers might use some substances (+18) in order to let loose of the frames the routine has put your imagination in. Not sure if such ideas are portrayed just for entertainment in fictional worlds of tv shows, but anyways I do not think that this is the greatest way of creating content.

Another issue I am dealing with in writing is whether the content I have written is too complicated to understand. Because I have caught myself going sooo deep into not that major details to the point I see no sense behind my effort. I guess I just have to start using more simple yet not completely dry sentence structures in my books. I just have to figure out how to do that (which is daring to me, since I am a law student and there’s nothing simple about legal english :D).

I wonder if anybody else struggles with similar issues and maybe have already found solutions. Or maybe there are other problems to whom I might have answers to!

Well, my dearest #ideacrafters I wish you all an amazing day!
